I can buy that there are trips out of Earth orbit, if only because we know that sods are devouring asteroids for resources and raw materials (the Winner family's entire fortune and influence is based on it, no less) and I don't think that most NEOs are suitable for that sort of thing and I'm too lazy to check my bookshelf.
